Goals & Objectives:
  • 4.W.3.a - Orient the reader by establishing a situation and introducing a narrator and/or characters; organize an event sequence that unfolds naturally.
  • 4.W.3.b - Use dialogue and description to develop experiences and events or show the responses of characters to situations.
  • 4.W.3.c - Use a variety of transitional words and phrases to manage the sequence of events.
  • 4.W.3.e - Provide a conclusion that follows from the narrated experiences or events.

Prompt:
Imagine that you have just been given a feather pen and a bottle of ink, but more importantly you are told that these two items are not just ordinary items, but they contain magic. A magic that allows you to re-write any fairy tale that has ever been written.

Choose any fairy tale and re-write it or in other words fracture it. Keep in mind the three ways to fracture a fairy tale: Characters, Setting (Location &/or Era), & Point of View/Perspective.

Make sure to:
  • Introduce the narrator and characters within the first paragraph
  • Organize the stories events so they flow smoothly (Hint: Transition Words)
  • Use dialogue
  • Conclude you story with strong conclusion

Reflection:
I can definitely see myself using this piece of technology in the future with my future classroom for many reasons. One being that most, with the exception of a few children in an EC classroom cannot not read and might not be able to read, but they still need to be introduced to a variety of books and this would be a great way to ensure that. Two being that some children do not get read to at home, but if something like this was available to them then that issue would be an answer to a continuous and constantly growing issue. Three being that this would be a great way to provide students with the opportunity to learn in a new and exciting way.
